John Greig
Rangers, Scotland
Hometown: Scotland
To many Glasgow Rangers fans John Greig MBE is Rangers. John had a playing career that spanned 17 years in which time he made 755 official appearances. He then went on to manage the club for a 5 year period and later went on to work in a public relations capacity until his recent retirement.
We couldn’t possibly list all his achievement during his career. Captaining the team to the Cup Winners Cup in Barcelona, winning 3 domestic trebles, 44 caps for Scotland, being voted Scottish Footballer of the Year in both 1966 and 1976, being voted the Greatest Ever Ranger in 1999 and having a statue erected outside the Main Stand at Ibrox are just some of the highlights of this man’s extraordinary career.
According to Ally McCoist, John Greigs greatest ever achievement was in signing him for Rangers…but given the list above we aren’t so sure!
