Born on June 11 1963 James Chic Charnley was one of the great characters in
Scottish football for many years. It has been said he has had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus and saw more cards than a Las Vegas blackjack dealer.
Wherever he went Chic played with a smile on his face and brought a great deal of joy to countless fans. His man of the match performance for Celtic in a friendly match versus Manchester United proved what many fans already knew namely that Chic was good enough to play at the very highest level. His skill was never in doubt and his wish to play football the way we want to see it played made him a firm fans favourite wherever he went. Signing for Partick Thistle on no fewer than four occasions added to his appeal and he would certainly be classed as a legend around Firhill where many of the fans rate him as their best ever player.
Chic holds the British record for being sent off and his new autobiography is called Seeing Red. He is also the only player we know of who was attacked by 2 guys wielding Samurai swords during training, a chase ensued..............The guys wae the swords got away, just!
CHIC'S NEW BOOK "SEEING RED"IS OUT NOW, A MUST HAVE PRESENT FOR ANY FOOTBALL FAN THIS CHRISTMAS.
