Billy McNeill
Celtic, Scotland
Hometown: Bellshill, Scotland
Billy McNeill is quite simply a Glasgow Celtic legend. The mere mention of his name reminds Celtic fans the world over of a stern faced Captain raising the European Cup above his head in triumph on the magical night in Lisbon when the legend of the Lisbon Lions was born.
With over 800 official appearances the man they called Cesar played for Celtic for over 18 years and captained the team for over 13 years. During his captaincy he led the team to 9 league titles, 7 Scottish Cups and 6 league cups. A winner of both the Scottish Football Player of the Year and the Scottish Manager of the Year Billy also had a successful international career winning 29 caps.
He also went on to manage Celtic for 5 years and an often overlooked stat from that time is that he won 3 league titles a Scottish Cup and a League Cup.
The Greatest living Celt is now an ambassador for the Club and one of the finest gentlemen you could ever hope to meet.
